Frequently Asked Questions
Personal Loan Application Questions
What types of loans does Buckley Microfinance make?

Buckley Microfinance provides secured personal loans for a variety of needs. We understand that you may need funds for unanticipated bills – whether for car repairs, medical/dental expenses or minor home repairs. Also, you may need a little extra help for holiday gifts, back-to-school supplies, new furniture, appliances, or a vacation!

How much money can I expect to get?

At Buckley Microfinance, we offer loans up to $25,000.* You can prequalify for a loan up to $12,000 online without impacting your credit score.

*Not all applicants will qualify for larger loan amounts or most favorable loan terms. Larger loan amounts require a first lien on a motor vehicle that meets our requirements. Loan approval and actual loan terms depend on your state of residence and your ability to meet our credit standards.

Are there any up-front costs associated with applying for a loan?

No. Buckley Microfinance will never require you to pay up-front costs or fees prior to receiving your loan proceeds. If you are ever asked to pay an up-front fee by someone claiming to be a Buckley Microfinance employee you should contact us immediately at (844) 303-3980.

How long does it take to apply for a loan and receive my money?

It only takes 5 minutes to prequalify online. If you are prequalified, you can reach out to your local branch OR your local branch will call you within 24-48 hours. As soon as you bring the required documents to the branch and sign your loan documents – you can receive your check that day!

What must I bring with me when I apply for a loan?

Federal law requires us to obtain, verify, and record information that identifies each person who opens an account with us. Your assistance in providing us with this information helps us to not only process your application quickly, but also to protect you from the danger of identity theft.

Before we can complete your loan, Buckley Microfinance will need you to provide the following documents:

  • A copy of a valid, government-issued photo ID (e.g. driver’s license, state ID card, or passport)
  • Proof of residence (e.g. a utility bill, or a signed lease)
  • Proof of income (e.g. paystubs or tax returns)

Additional documents may be needed, depending on the loan for which you qualify

Does applying for a loan impact your credit?

Seeing if you prequalify for a loan will not affect your credit score. Applying for a personal loan can affect your credit score, but typically only for a short period of time. Credit scores are determined using several factors.

Does Buckley Microfinance report to any credit bureaus?

Yes, we report once a month to Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion. To receive your free credit report, go to www.annualcreditreport.com.

How are my loan terms decided?

Each customer’s loan terms are decided on an individual basis, taking into account each customer’s unique situation and needs. Loan decisions are made based on a variety of factors, including credit history, income, and availability and value of collateral (if applicable).

How long does loan prequalification last?

Prequalification for personal loans lasts 30 days. That is why it’s important to make decisions regarding your personal loan quickly. If you have any questions, our team members are standing by and are happy to assist you during your loan approval process.

I did not Prequalify online. How do I find out the reasons for this decision?

If you did not Prequalify online, you will receive a letter by email or mail explaining the reasons behind the decision.

How will I receive my funds?

You will receive a check at the branch during the loan closing or your funds may be deposited by ACH. Prequalify now and you could receive your funds the same day that your loan is approved and your documents are signed in the branch.

I currently have a loan with Buckley Microfinance. Is it possible to get more money?

We need to evaluate your unique situation to determine if you qualify for more money. Contact your local branch.

Is collateral required to get a personal loan from Buckley Microfinance?

We typically require collateral in the form of personal property (TVs, stereos, etc.) and/or a personal car or a truck. Property used as collateral must be insured against physical damage for the term of the loan. Please contact your closest local branch for more information regarding collateral.

Why do I need insurance coverage on the collateral used to secure my loan?

Because the collateral is securing your loan, the collateral must be insured in case it needs to be replaced or repaired. If you have more questions about this topic, call your local branch.

What happens if my collateral is damaged, fully destroyed or stolen?

Call or visit your local Buckley Microfinance branch to notify the manager of the damage or loss. Your loan specialist will explain the next steps for your insurance claim process which depends on the type of collateral that was used to secure the loan.
